Orvin Henderson

Orvin M. Henderson, age 88, of Fountain City, WI, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, following a short illness.

He was born on November 27, 1932, in Mound Prairie, Houston County, MN, to Adolph and Julia (Ericson) Henderson, and honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Orvin married the love of his life, Virginia Gibbons, on July 6, 1957, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Winona, and Gina enjoyed his love and doting for over 64 years.

He owned and operated Skelly Oil Stations for 17 years, and he was later employed as the chief mechanic for the City of Winona for over 20 years, until his retirement.  He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and of the Dodge Sportsman Club.

He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved gardening, being a mechanic, working on cars, and also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.  His greatest joy in life was his family, and he especially cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him the most.

Orvin is lovingly survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Cindy (Jesse Cyrus) Cieminski; grandchildren: Dylan (Tess) Cieminski, and Sadie (Josh Jacobson) Cieminski; great-grandchildren: Auden and Graye Cieminski, and Rylynn Jacobson; a sister: Florence Redig; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 East Sarnia St. Winona.  Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.  Orvin will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.
