Marjorie Ronnenberg

Marjorie Jeanette Ronnenberg, age 94, of Winona, passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living in Winona.

She was born at home in French Creek, Trempealeau County, WI, the only child of John and Delia (Mustad) Larson.  She was baptized at French Creek Lutheran Church, and was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia, where she attended Sunday School and sang in the choirs of the church.

During first grade, she attended a one-room schoolhouse, and when her parents later moved to Arcadia, she attended Arcadia elementary school and the Arcadia High School, graduating in 1945.

Following graduation, she came to Winona and got a job as the secretary to Arthur Thurley, Sr., at the J.R. Watkins Company.

Marjorie was united in marriage with Victor Ronnenberg on February 26, 1949, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1996.

After their children were all in school, Marjorie worked as the office and credit manager for Gamble-Skogens at the local Gamble and Tempo stores.  During the 1980s and 1990s, she was employed at the Winona Clinic until her retirement in 1992.

Marjorie was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, where she was active with the church choir, and was the church secretary for Pastor Mennicke.  She will be remembered for her enjoyment of crocheting, knitting, dancing, and working crossword puzzles.  Victor and Marjorie enjoyed camping, and after retirement, they traveled throughout the United States in their motorhome, which they enjoyed very much.

Marjorie and Victor had five children: Sheryll Lynn (Robert) Sillman; Susan Kay Ronnenberg; Rodney Wayne (Linda) Ronnenberg; Sheila Mae (Randy) Baker; and Shelley Ann Ronnenberg.  Marjorie is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her daughter, Susan.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until a funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Marjorie will be laid to rest in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona.
