James "Jim" Christopherson

April 21, 1942 — April 27, 2021

James "Jim" Christopherson

James “Jim” Christopherson made his last wildly inappropriate comment, with a twinkle in his eyes, early Tuesday morning on April 27, 2021. Jim was surrounded by his loving family and dog Rambo, until the very end.

He was born on April 21st, 1942, to Earl and Leila Christopherson, and he kept them on the edge of their seats from day one. He lived a fast life full of adventure--much to the chagrin of local police departments. His adventures included several things which we probably should not publish for fear of reprehension, but if you knew Jim, he likely shared and started these stories
with “this one time when I was drinking…”.

He met his wife Carol Schueler in 1965, and they married a year later in December of 1966. Though they frequently described their love as “The War of the Roses”, it was the worst kept secret that they truly held love for one another these past 54 years.

Much of his adult life was spent on the road, as he was the service manager at Badger Equipment Company for over 30 years, but he always made time for his family, and friends, along with a good time or two. Many summers were spent carting his grandchildren across the country on family vacations, instilling a love of travel through the generations.

In the late 1980’s, he and Carol moved to ‘the farm’. Many lively celebrations were held here--most of which we can remember. Holidays were always filled with Jim’s favorite foods, old time music, homemade wine, and a traditional family brawl over a card game. ‘The farm’ became a treasured family home for his children, grandchildren, horses, and dogs.

In his ‘golden years’ his travels took him abroad as he visited Italy, Ireland, and Scotland and happily sampled the local spirits and cuisine. His sense of humor (and alcohol tolerance) went unmatched, but his true gift in life was in making others happy. These adventures will be forever cherished by his family.

Jim was the first to pull a funny prank, make a witty comment, or sneak in a dirty joke, but it was his joyous laugh that could bring out the ‘happy’ in anyone. Many of the life lessons he has passed on could be chalked up to what he called: “The World According to Jim”. A few gems simply being: listen before you speak, live for today, and never turn down a cold beer or
time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Joni Faustino (Neil Zastrow), Kristina (Chris) Schmidtknecht, and James (Katie) Christopherson. He is also survived by grandchildren, Shelby Faustino (Shaun Berhow), Brittany Faustino, Trinity and Andrew Schmidtknecht, and Erik and Tristyn Christopherson.

Whenever possible, the family is asking for any and all memories you may have shared with Jim. To know he is living on in other hearts and minds is the greatest comfort during this time.

A private graveside ceremony will be held this week, along with a 'Celebration of Life' gathering at a later date. In the meantime, however, let us all take a moment to raise a glass and toast a great man’s life.

Jim "Papa" will be forever missed.
