SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2 PM ON SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2020, AT CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY CHURCH LOCATED AT HIGHWAY 61 AND 44TH AVENUE IN GOODVIEW

On Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 9:15 AM, Glenn Roger Sanders, age 94, of Winona, answered the call of Reveille in Heaven to be with his Lord.  Glenn believed in putting God first, country second, family third, and then the job!

Glenn was a member and Deacon of Cornerstone Community Church in Winona; a mentor and confidant to many pastors across the United States; a Bible teacher all his life (even up to last Sunday); a longtime member of Gideons International; a faithful missionary supporter; a Good Samaritan wherever he traveled and lived; a believer in prayer; and was led by the Holy Spirit to do God’s will.

Glenn enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served throughout World War II until May 1946.  He was in military government service as a BMM2C of Company 144 on Tinian, Marianas Islands.  Of Glenn’s brothers, two served in the US army, two in the US Navy, and one stayed home to run the family farm.  Of his children and grandchildren, two served in the US Navy, one in the US Army Reserves, and two in the US Marines.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elaine.  He is survived by his five children, thirteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, thirteen foster children, a sister, Mary, and a sister-in-law, Jackie.

Glenn’s career from March 15, 1948 to February 6, 1991, was as the Executive Vice-President/Group Executive of Household International with responsibilities for H.F.C., Household Bank, Household Retail Services, and Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance for the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Glenn lived his life by contemplating and living by these words: “Things seem to go right for the man who doesn’t join those who scorn or follow wrongdoers, but delights in doing what is right…and he gives great thought to that day and night, in all that he does; it is he who prospers.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a public celebration of Glenn’s life will take place at a later date.  He will be laid to rest privately in his hometown of Protection, KS.

In lieu of flowers, Glenn would want memorials and donations to be made to Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles to further spread God’s Holy Word throughout the world, or to Cornerstone Community Church of Winona.
