Emil H. Sulla, age 89, of Minnesota City, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Benedictine – St. Anne.

He was born on April 18, 1931, in Winona, to Larry and Mary (Anglewitz) Sula, and was a graduate of Cotter High School.  Emil was united in marriage with Betty Ann Sandstede on August 16, 1952, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Winona, and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2013.

Emil was employed with the Winona Printing Company for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Minnesota City Boat Club, and of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and trips to the casino.  Emil never met a stranger, and he loved to talk and tell stories.

Emil is survived by his children: Jeff (Paula) Sulla, Michael (Stephanie) Sulla, and Jane (Woody) Sinkko; grandchildren: Erin Sulla, Peter Sulla, Cassandra Sulla, Trisha (Kenny) Dunn, and Lindsey Katula; great-grandson: Caleb Katula; step-grandchildren: Eritt, Victoria, and Frank Sinkko; a sister: Kathy (Dave) Greden; as well as other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Minnesota City.  The Reverend Chinnappa Pothireddy will officiate.  Emil will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.  Those attending will be required to wear a mask and to follow social distancing guidelines.
