Donald "Butch" Wieczorek, Sr.

Donald James “Butch” Wieczorek, Sr., 82, of Minnesota City, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021.

He was born April 10, 1939, in Winona to Henry and Alice (Wiersgalla) Wieczorek.  He married Joan Kanz on August 11, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

He was employed for Badger Construction, retiring after many years.

Butch was a member of the American Legion, and of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka where he always enjoyed attending Mass.  In his spare time, Butch enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, and he also enjoyed his dog, Sarge.

Butch’s greatest joy was spending time with his family – especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Butch will be remembered as a loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and brother.

Butch is lovingly survived by his children: Dave (Donna) Wieczorek, Sharon (Robert) Tellinghuisen, Donald (Michelle) Wieczorek Jr., Sandy (Allan) Parpart, Steve (Susie Peplinski) Wieczorek and Scott (Sarah McNally) Wieczorek; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother: Jim (Carrie) Wieczorek; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including his best friend, Sarge. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joan; his parents; sister, Sharon; and brothers: Gene and Robert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Thursday July 8, 2021, at The Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate, assisted by Deacon Justin Green.  Butch will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will also be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 10:30 AM until the time of the Mass.

Pallbearers will be: Justin and Adam Wieczorek, Dan Wieczorek, Shamiah Womeldorf, Cal Johnson, and Mason Riemann.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Heather Womeldorf; Heidi, Holly and Hope Parpart; Josh, Anna and Alissa Wieczorek; Kyle and Paul Mortenson; Mikaela McNally; Devyn Tatum; Austin and Jordan Peplinski; Adalyn and Jaxson Womeldorf; Brynley and Ella Johnson; and Sawyer Mortenson.
