David C. "Spuds" Davison, 77, of Winona, Minn., died Monday, March 16, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse, Wis.

He was born January 25, 1943, in Richland Center, Wis. to Guy and Georgine (Einhorn) Davison. David graduated from Cotter High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the National Guard.  He married Mary Matzke on April 1, 1967, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2006.  He was a welder by trade and retired from Crenlo, Inc. in 2006.

Spuds was a member of the Winona American Legion Post 9, Winona Archery Club, and the Minnwissippi Fishing Club.  He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed fishing and golfing.  Spuds was very proud of his grandchildren.  Kylie Kay was the apple of Grandpa’s eye and he was looking forward to watching her graduate from Winona State University this Spring.  Hunter followed in Grandpa’s footsteps, taking a job at Winona Welding right out of high school and is currently going to school to be a diesel mechanic at Southeast Technical College.  Owen was fortunate to have Grandpa as his biggest fan. They spent a lot of time golfing and going to Owen’s golf tournaments together. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Scott (Tammy) and Brian (Susan) Davison; three grandchildren, Kylie, Hunter, and Owen Davison; sister, Nancy Brady; brother, Guy (Connie) Davison, Jr.; step-brother, Michael Corcoran; mother-in-law, Bernice Matzke; sisters-in-law, Sharon Matthees, Pat (Jack) Miller, Bette Wall and Carol Johnson; brother-in-law, John (Mary) Matzke; and many nieces, nephews (special nephew, Tim Matthees), other relatives and friends; and special friend, Sharon Durham.

He is further survived by his “extended” family, Gary, Troy, Chris, Corbin, Talan, Shane, Deb, Samantha, and Brady Trynowski and Al and Michelle Bloom; his golfing buddies, George, Eddie, Bill, and Teddy; his hunting and fishing partner, “DB” ; his friend, Clarence; and his Colorado family.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Terrance Corcoran; his father-in-law, Urban Matzke; other relatives; and friends, Marvin Davis and Charlie Olsen.

At Spuds’ request, there will be no visitation and a private family burial will be held.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from Mayo Health Systems, Aunt Nancy for all she has done, and our family and friends for all of their support.
