Christopher Hale

Christopher J. Hale, age 29, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse, WI.  He was born on November 26, 1990, in Winona, to Mitchell and Lisa (Stephans) Hale.

Chris graduated from Winona Senior High School in 2009 and attended Winona State University for a short time.  He lived in Winona, Grand Marais, and Rushford, MN.  He worked for several businesses including Culver’s, A & W, and most recently Stumpy’s.

He enjoyed gaming, playing Frisbee golf, hanging out with his friends, and mostly, spending time with his brother Mitch Jr. before he recently passed away.

Chris will be missed by many who loved him, but knowing he is reunited with his brother, Mitch Jr. eases the sadness in our hearts a little.

Chris is survived by his mother, Lisa Griffin (Doug Olson); father, Mitchell (Jan) Hale; stepfather, Jerry Griffin (Lori Kramer); brothers: Jeff (Samantha Schwarz) Welch; Shawn Stutzka; and Josh (Jenna) Stremcha; sisters: Harley and Chelsey Griffin; Victoria Hale; and Hope Stremcha; grandmother, Nancy Heyer; grandfather, Nathan Hale, Sr.  He is further survived by a nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous other family members.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Elinor Tietz; maternal grandfather, Don Stephans; brother, Mitchell Hale, Jr.; and sister, Jessica Griffin.

Private cremation is being held, and a Celebration of Chris’s life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 1-4 p.m. at East Side Bar, 851 East 7th Street, Winona for his family and friends.
