Winifred Brandes

Winifred A. Brandes, age 93, of Winona, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Roger Metz Manor.

She was born on September 6, 1928, in Winona, to Theodore and Laura (Zaborowski) Stinson.  She married Donald Brandes, and they later divorced.

Winifred was employed with Rochester Wholesale Fruit and Thrifty White Drug Store in Winona, and she was a member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of playing BINGO, trips to the casino, but especially as an excellent homemaker who was a wonderful and loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend.

Winifred is survived by her children:  Donald (Rita) Brandes, Jr., Richard Brandes, Toni Jean (Alan) Kouba, Jaci (Ken) Korpal, and Steve (June) Brandes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Lorraine, Patsy, Ted, Judy (Ken), Mike (Rickie), and Karen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary; parents; brother, Donny Stinson; daughter-in-law, Barbara Brandes; and her former husband, Donald Brandes.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Winona.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.  Winifred will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
