Violet Schell

Violet Schell, 96, Stockton, MN, passed away July 1, 2018, at Sauer Health Care, surrounded by her family. Violet was born in Winona to John and Anna (Daniel) Mueller and was raised on a farm on Garvin Heights. She enjoyed sharing many wonderful memories of the farm and her upbringing there.

Violet married Anthony Schell on Sept. 8, 1941, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wilson. They built their home in Stockton where they raised 12 children. Later in life, Violet took up several house cleaning jobs and worked for her employers for many years. Always a hard worker, she continued to work for a couple of them even at the age of 90.

Violet was preceded in death by four sons: Donald, Richard, Arnie and John; three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by four sons: Ed, Charlie, Ron (Terry), Mike (Carla); four daughters: Mary Griffin, Rose (Steve) Krueger, Donna (Ken) Srock, and Kathy (John) Griffin; as well as one sister, Betty Spurlin.

She is also survived by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Violet will be lovingly remembered for her all-encompassing hugs she often showered on the little ones that approached her, her endearing German exclamations, her strength in diversity, strong faith, and her unconditional love. She rests in the promise of Jesus.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM with a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 PM on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday July 7, 2018, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Minnesota City.  The Reverend Chinnappa Pothireddy will officiate.  Violet will be laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery in Stockton, MN.

Pallbearers will be Violet’s grandsons: Rick Schell, Dan Schell, Ken Srock, David Srock, Brian Golish, and Blake Griffin.
