VERNETTE "NET" A. BELTER

Vernette “Net” A. Belter, age 90, of Wilson, passed away at 1:40 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Winona Health.

She was born on August 23, 1927, in Hart Township, MN, to Albert and Gertrude (Brand) Wenzel, Sr.  She was united in marriage with Clarence T. Belter on December 30, 1944, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2004.

Net and Clarence farmed for many years together in Wilson Township.  She will be remembered for her love of playing Euchre and Schafskopf with her son and grandsons, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, and how she enjoyed watching the activity at the Wilson Fire Hall.  She was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Net is lovingly survived by her children: David (Donna) Belter, Dean (Judy) Belter, Judy (Rich) Hemker, and Nancy Hemker; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother: George “Pert” (Nellie) Wenzel; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Denny Belter; son-in-law: Robert Hemker; granddaughter, Heather Belter; and brothers: Walter, Albert, Jr., and Victor Wenzel.

Visitation will be held at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.

Net will be laid to rest in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Wilson.  Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Wilson Fire Hall.

Pallbearers will be Net’s grandsons: Roger Hemker, Tom Hemker, Randy Hemker, Jason Belter, Jamie Belter, Travis Hemker, Adam Belter, Scott Belter, and Mike Belter.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Net’s grandchildren: Bobbi Jo Hemker, Nicole Williams, Brenda Kelly, and Brian Belter.
