Steven M. Stampka, age 70, of Winona, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 24, 1956, in Arcadia, WI, to Albert and Jean (Mueller) Stampka. Steve was a graduate of Winona Senior High School, and Winona Southeast Technical College for Truck Driving and Welding.
Steve was united in marriage with Tamera Rackow on January 12, 1980, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage together.
He was employed as a mechanic with the Winona Knitting Mills for 25 years and retired from WinCraft.
Steve learned to play the drums at the age of 5 and continued playing in the family band for many years. Steve also loved riding his motorcycle, putzing in the garage, painting, and welding projects out of horseshoes. Some of Steve’s favorite memories were spending time with the family camping and boating on the river.
Steve is lovingly survived by his wife, Tamera; daughters: April (Lee) Hanson, Tanya (Pete) DeGrande, and Stephanie Stampka; grandchildren: Nikolas (Elli) Stampka, Nathan Pleasanton, Hannah Pleasanton, Jazmine (Cameron) Gardiner, Jayme Hanson, Nicholaus Hanson, Jarin Hanson and Tina DeGrande; great-grandchildren: Drake, Dakotah and Ryder; his beloved dogs: Smokey, Minnie, Freedom, Gizo and Molly; brothers: Gary (Janet) Stampka, Dale (Helen) Stampka, Ken (Mary) Stampka; sisters-in-law: Vicky Rackow, Lois (Shawn) Becker, Kathy (John) Pelowski, and Kim Kotlarz; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Jean Stampka; and his parents-in-law: Harold and Judy Rackow.
Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4 PM until 7 PM.
