STANLEY J. PALUBICKI
Stanley J. Palubicki, age 85, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at his home.
He was born on April 12, 1931, in Winona, to Henry and Mary (Kunda) Palubicki. Stanley honorably served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed at the Murphy Dome Radar Station in Alaska.
Stanley was united in marriage with Marjorie Nelson Roycraft on January 28, 1957. Marjorie preceded him in death on March 23, 1967. On November 18, 1967, Stanley was united in marriage with Carol Gora at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. Carol preceded him in death on January 8, 2002. He was employed for many years as an equipment foreman with Biesanz Stone Company in Winona. Stanley was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, the American Legion, and the Eagles Club.
He will be remembered for his love of woodworking, and he especially enjoyed making clocks and donating his handmade toys for the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.
Stanley is lovingly survived by his daughter: Mary Beth (Jim) Veraguth, Fountain City, WI; step-children: Patricia Roycraft Schultz, Beloit, WI; and Mark Roycraft, Onalaska, WI; grandchildren: Monica and Melissa Veraguth, both of Winona; Stacey (Dave) Rebhahn, Beloit, WI; Rebecca Osmond, Clearwater, FL; Kimberly (Tony) Jenkins, South Carolina; Robert Curtiss, La Crosse, WI; and Josh Greene, Galesville, WI; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Donna (Eugene) Kleinschmidt, Winona; Dolores Blood, Kansas; Patricia (Pat) Thill, La Crosse, WI; Deborah (Lawrence) Brabbit, Lewiston, MN; Helen (Michael) Carney, Rushford, MN; Richard C. (Marilyn) Gora, Winona; Robert J. Gora, Minnesota City, MN; Gary “Butch” (Trudie) Gora, Trempealeau, WI; and Thomas (Eileen) Gora, Winona; as well as other relatives and friends, including his faithful companion, Sparky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Marjorie and Carol; step-daughter: Connie Greene; son-in-law: Jim Schultz; granddaughter: Kristina (Tina) Steele Rodriguez; and all of his brothers and sisters: David, Eugene, Edward, Frank, George, Ceil, and Grace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
Following the Mass, the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors outside of the Basilica.
Stanley will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 6 PM (please note time change) on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. There will not be any visitation held on Thursday, please meet at the Basilica for the Mass.
Memorials may be directed to the Polish Museum in Winona or to Winona Health Hospice.
