Sarah Jane Wetzel

Sarah Jane Wetzel, age 79, of Winona, MN, formerly of Bemidji, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at her home in Winona.

She was born on March 11, 1946, in Minnesota, to Cyril and Marjorie Allen. Sarah was a graduate of Waterville High School and completed her degree in nursing at the St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1967. She worked as a registered nurse for many years, serving at various hospitals and long-term care facilities throughout her career.

In 1966, Sarah was united in marriage with Harry Wetzel in North Morristown, MN, and he preceded her in death in 2022.

Sarah will be remembered for her love of reading, especially mysteries, and for her enjoyment of traveling, camping, and going on cruises with Harry.

Sarah is lovingly survived by her children: Robin (Sarah) Wetzel, Jay Wetzel, and Michelle (Scott) Copeland; grandchildren: Eric Wetzel, Ethan Wetzel, Levi Copeland, Austin Copeland, and Adalyn Wetzel; great-grandson, Everett Wetzel; nephews: David Allen and Christopher Messimer; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Alice Allen.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Aardahl Lutheran Church in Bemidji.

Sarah’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Gundersen Health Hospice, and to family friends, Diane and Kaitlyn Bendel, for the excellent and loving care that she received.
