Sally A. Stiever

Sally A. Stiever, age 63, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN.

Born on July 30, 1961, in Winona to Edward and Elizabeth (Frye) Stiever, Sally graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1979, and pursued her passion for caring for others by completing training at the Winona Vo-Tech to become a nursing assistant.

From 1980 until 2013, Sally dedicated herself to her profession, working at St. Anne’s in Winona, where she also served as the union steward for UFCW 1189, United Food and Commercial Workers Union. She later continued her career at Hope Estates in Winona, providing compassionate care to those in need.

Sally will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her heart of gold, and for being the life of the party. Some of her favorite activities included throwing darts and participating in dart league, enjoying bus trips to the casino, and traveling with family and friends. Her favorite moments were spent with her family, particularly during the holidays, and she especially cherished her nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Sally is lovingly survived by her siblings: Jim Stiever, Alice Nelson, Kurt Stiever, Barbie (Tom) Meier, and Kenny Stiever; along with her cherished nephews and nieces: James, Jordan, CJ, Jason, Brad, Shanie, Candes, Shannon, and Stacy. She also leaves behind numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, as well as her beloved feline companions, Marm and Gus, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tim; her great-niece, Katie Hornberg; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, and again at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9 AM until the funeral service at 10 AM, officiated by Deacon Justin Green. Sally will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Wilson.

Pallbearers will include James Meier, Jordan Meier, Brad Stiever, Jason Stiever, CJ Stiever, and Tommy Grant.

Sally’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mayo Clinic for the exemplary care she received.
