Ronald "Ron" Tofstad

Ronald (Ron) Tofstad, age 71, of Winona, passed away at home on September 3, 2019.

Ron was born in Winona on May 13, 1948, to Carroll and Carol (Griffith) Tofstad, and attended Lewiston High School. He then lived in Phoenix, Arizona and worked for Lebeau Printing as a linotype and ludlow operator. Eventually he returned to Winona, and was employed by Winona Auto Sales and Nystrom Motors in their body shops. He was also a boiler repairman and operator. His favorite position was as a custodian for First Congregational Church in Winona, for almost 20 years.

In Ron's younger years, he loved working on fast, classic cars. He was a coin collector and could often be seen metal detecting around the area. He would give a little lesson to curious passers-by on the proper way to detect, "No big holes in the ground to get the treasure!" Ron was also a lover of country music classics and played the guitar.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary; sons: Matthew (Jenny) and Eric; and daughter, Emily (Drew); grandchildren: Robert, Steven, Andy, Skyler, Mia, Eagan and Autumn; brothers: Mitchell (Marty), Matthew; sister, Karen (Graham); sister-in-law, Camilla; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Randy.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.
