Roman Lilla

Roman J. Lilla, 82, of Centerville, WI, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his children on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

He was born February 27, 1940, in Galesville, WI, and graduated from Trempealeau High School in 1958. Roman was a hard-working farmer for his entire life, owning and operating dairy, beef, pork, chicken and crop farms in the Centerville area.

He enjoyed listening and dancing to old time country and polka music, his Allis Chalmers tractors, watching the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with family members and friends.  Roman was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the Centerville Creamery Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Martha (Walski) Lilla; brothers: Dan (Imelda) and Edmund Lilla; sisters: Florence (Frank) Stolpa and Lorraine (Bob) Kujak; in addition to an infant son, Joey.

Roman is survived by his six children: Lisa (Paul) Nestingen, Deanna (Joe) Cousineau, James (Christine) Lilla, Joseph Lilla, Christine (Vince) Pream, and Michael (Samantha) Lilla; grandchildren: Ryan (Kaleigh), Braden, and Mikayla Cousineau; Ben Nestingen; Max and Emily Lilla; Austen Rudol; and Eli, Seth, Natalie and Cora Lilla; great-grandson, Caden Cousineau; step-son, Terry Wolter; step-grandchildren: Dylan (Kali) Wolter and Morgan Wolter; and step great-grandchild, Kinsley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 4 PM until 7 PM, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 PM.  Visitation will also be held at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Trempealeau, WI, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.  Fr. Sebastian will officiate.

Roman will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Trempealeau.
