Roger L. Schubbe, age 74, of Winona, formerly of Somonauk, IL, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at his home.
He was born on February 21, 1951, in Elgin, IL, to Leonard and Lucille (Groth) Schubbe, and was a graduate of Larkin High School. Roger was united in marriage with Jane Holohan on May 13, 1972, in Aurora, IL.
Roger was employed as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Local 265 Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 50 years.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona, the Lake Holiday Bass Club in Illinois, and he coached youth softball and baseball for many years.
Roger loved the outdoors, and as an avid fisherman he enjoyed the time spent at the family cabin up north. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he especially cherished the time that he spent with his grandchildren – he was and will continue to be very proud of them, as they are the light of his life.
Roger is lovingly survived by his wife, Jane; children: Robert (Laura) Schubbe, Chris Schubbe, and Cyndy (Greg) Jones; grandchildren: Natalie Moisa, Hunter Schubbe, Maddie Schubbe, Carson Jones, and Piper Jones; sister: Roxanne (Michael) Wolf; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Schubbe on July 25, 2008; his parents; and his brother and sister-in-law: Michael and Sarah Schubbe.
Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona, MN on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, a cause that held special meaning for Roger.
Roger’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staffs of Marinuka Manor in Galesville, WI, and Winona Health Hospice, for the excellent and loving care that he received.
