Roger Garrison

Roger A. Garrison, age 79, of Winona, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018, at the Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse, WI.

He was born on December 30, 1938, in La Crosse, to Russell and Violet (Farnholtz) Garrison.  In 1962, Roger was united in marriage with Elenora Neitzke in Winona, and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2017.

Roger honorably served his country with the National Guard, and he was proud to have been an officer with the Winona Police Department for many years.  He was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In his earlier years, he was known as the fastest pin setter in Winona.  He will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, being an expert archer, and the love he had for his Beagles.

Roger is lovingly survived by his daughter: Linda Garrison; son: Bill (Jayda) Garrison; sister: June Garrison; brothers: Kenneth Garrison, Gene (Marian) Garrison, and Donald (Connie) Garrison: brother-in-law: Roy Neitzke; sisters-in-law: Arlene Neitzke and Josephine Neitzke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers-in-law: Weldon and Howard Neitzke; sisters-in-law: Alice Neitzke and Connie Neitzke; and a niece: Brenda Neitzke-Pearcy.

Visitation will be held from noon until the funeral service at 1 PM on Monday, August 13, 2018, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.  Roger will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
