Robert W. “Bob” Gerth, age 79, of Winona, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020, at Lake Winona Manor.
He was born on March 31, 1941, in Winona, to Oscar and Ethel (Meyers) Gerth, and honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1963 – 1965. In 1967, Bob married Beverly Henderson, and she preceded him in death on July 29, 2011.
Bob was employed with Winona Monument Company, and later worked for 10 years at St. Stan’s until his retirement.
He will be remembered for his enjoyment of the outdoors, fishing, and he loved to watch hockey and football on TV. His family was very important to him, and he especially cherished the time that he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his children: Robert (Tessa Anderson) Gerth, Brian Gerth, and Shelly (Keri Burt) Gerth; grandchildren: Ashley Prigge, Jeremy Prigge, Aaron Gerth, and Chelsea Gerth; a sister: Nancy Gerth; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly; parents: Oscar and Ethel; as well as several aunts and uncles.
Due to current health concerns and restrictions, a family service will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Bob will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery beside his beloved wife, with military honors being conducted by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona.
All are welcome to come and celebrate Bob’s life at 6 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 621 East Belleview St. in Winona. For those attending, we ask that you respect Bob’s family by observing social distancing.
