Robert A. “Bob” Rolbiecki, 96, of Minnesota City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, right where he wanted to be—at home, with his family by his side.
He was born on August 7, 1929, in Winona, Minnesota, to Adolph and Anna (Peterson) Rolbiecki. Bob attended Winona schools and later took over his parents’ business, Bass Camp Resort, in the 1970s. He poured his heart into the resort and helped shape it into what it is today.
In his younger years, Bob enjoyed boxing, even winning a few Golden Gloves titles. He was a strong-willed man whose life was rooted in hard work, family, and a deep love for the outdoors.
On June 22, 1949, Bob married the love of his life, Patricia (Whitten). Together, they raised four children: Michael, Scott, Katherine, and Myles ("Buzz"). The family shared many special moments over meals—Red Lobster being a favorite spot. Bob built a lasting legacy not only through his family, but also through his dedication to his work. For many years, he owned and operated Bass Camp Resort Restaurant and Campground.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He coon hunted with his dogs, pheasant hunted with his brother-in-law Carlos, and he never missed deer season. Not many critters made it through Bob’s yard unnoticed.
At home, he could often be found in his favorite chair, watching boxing all day long. Visitors were always welcomed with food or offered an iced tea, often offered more than once. Bob loved cooking for others and made sure no one left hungry. Outside of the house you wouldn't find him without his favorite cap on.
His strong will, steady presence, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bob is survived by his four children; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his sister, Patty. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Lou; his parents; and his siblings, Margaret and Dick. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4 PM until 7 PM.
