Richard Cada

Richard Cada, age 82, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.  He was born on October 26, 1935, to Mark and Barbara (Gabrych) Cada.  In 1961, he was united in marriage to Pauline Peterson in Winona.

Richard was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Winona.  He honorably served his country in the United States Army, and after he was honorably discharged, he worked in the metallurgy lab at Peerless Chain for 40 years.  Richard loved boating, fishing, and teaching his grandsons to fish.  Richard and Pauline took vacations all around the United States and Canada, taking several boat trips down the Mississippi.  He was mechanically inclined and loved Cadillacs; he also liked to camp, grill his four-hour chicken, watch Westerns, and listen to Elvis.  He was the sunshine in the room and adored by everyone.

Richard is survived by his wife: Pauline; 3 sons: Mark (Angie) Cada, Daniel (Kathy Adank) Cada, and Donald (Rachel) Cada; 2 daughters: Susan Cada Hensley and Christine Cada; all of Winona.  He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren: Hillary, Justine, Stephanie, Jamie, Andrew, Owen, Connor, Kendra, Jackson and Addison; a great-granddaughter: Addalynn; a brother: Edward (Barbara) Cada; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Harold, Lawrence, Robert and Donald; and a sister, Ruth.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the funeral service at 2 PM on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.

Richard will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will conduct military honors.  A luncheon will follow the burial at the American Legion Club, 302 East Sarnia Street in Winona.

Pallbearers will be Richard’s grandchildren.
