Raymond Lanz

Raymond H. Lanz, age 92, of Winona, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Sauer Healthcare.

He was born on June 4, 1927, in La Crosse, WI, to Herman and Marie (Papenfuss) Lanz. After graduating from high school, he honorably served his country with the United States Army.  Ray was united in marriage with Phyllis Schafer on March 1, 1949, in Austin, MN, and she preceded him in death on August 16, 2018.

Ray was employed with Madison Silo, retiring in 1990, and later drove cars for Walz Buick in Winona.  He was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Ray is survived by his sons: Dennis (Mary) Lanz, Sun City, AZ; and Daryl Lanz, Winona; sister-in-law, La Vonne Jahnke, Casa Grande, AZ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Dean Lanz; parents; brother: Arnold Lanz; and sisters: Evelyn Brandt, Gladys Stinson, and Alice Meyer.

Due to current health concerns, a funeral service is being planned for a future date at St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
