Peggy J. Reinhard

Peggy J. Reinhard, of Winona, an adored wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Sauer Health Care in Winona. Peggy had just celebrated her 80th birthday.

She was born on November 24, 1943, in Ithaca, NY, to Melvin and Elizabeth (Harrington) Manning.  Following high school, Peggy completed her teaching degree at Dakota University in Madison, SD.

Peggy met her husband, Douglas J. Reinhard, while they were both teaching for LeRoy-Ostrander Schools in Minnesota, and they eloped and were married on June 21, 1968, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.  They later relocated to Winona, and Peggy continued teaching various grades for schools in the area.  She and Doug also owned and operated Primo Record Store for several years.

Peggy was a member of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona, where she was active in singing with the choir and teaching Sunday School.

In her younger years, some of Peggy’s favorite pastimes included water ballet, swimming, bowling at the Winona Athletic Club, and she had many memorable trips to South Dakota to visit her family every summer.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of shopping, using her iPad, playing BINGO and Farkle at Sauer Health Care, and the special place she had in her heart for children.  Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she especially cherished the time that she spent with her daughter and granddaughter.  She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Peggy is lovingly survived by her husband, Doug; daughter, Christy Malenke; granddaughter, Ella Malenke; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Manning; and her in-laws: John and Marjorie Reinhard.

A funeral service for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Sauer Health Care.  Pastor Kyle Lewis of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate.

Peggy will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family respectfully asks that memorials be directed to St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Winona.
