Patricia "Pat" A. Jansen

Patricia Anne Jansen

Patricia (Pat) was born on January 5, 1934, the only daughter of Anne and Clyde Lackore. She had 8 brothers, 7 older (Tom, Ken, Brian, Jim, Dean, Don, Pete, and 1 younger, Bill). She attended grade school in Lismore, MN, until moving to St. Paul where she graduated from Saint Agnes High School June 1, 1952.

At the age of 14, she met the love of her life, Gerald Jansen, who told her father he would return when Pat was 18 and marry her. Gerald (Jerry) proposed in late 1952, and they were married April 6, 1953. They moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where Jerry was transferred to Hickam Field. There they had their first child, Ronald. Jerry's career provided them with an opportunity to live in a variety of communities with each of their children born in a different town: Honolulu (Ron); Minneapolis, MN, (Wayne); Watertown, MN, (Joni); Winona, MN, (Laura); and Luverne, MN, (Joe and Tony). Family was Pat's primary focus! She would choose to spend time with family above anything else! She loved hearing stories about their lives now and in the past often finding out something that happened with one of them that "mom was not supposed to know.”

The love her grandchildren (9) had for her was shown in the regular contact they made with her. Her role modeling and support was such a gift that each of the grandchildren welcomed. It is a tribute to the type of person she was, seeing their dedication to her and what she valued. Her great grandchildren (15) brought joy and laughter to her life watching them learn and grow and the innocent expression of love they shared with her.

Pat was a talented pianist. Her gentle demeanor and patience provided learning opportunities to children teaching them how to play the piano. She was the organist at St. Anthony Church in Lismore, Minnesota, for several years, not just playing for Mass, but also for weddings, funerals, and other social functions. Pat was a huge Minnesota Twins Fan. She never wanted to miss watching a game and knew each of the players by name. She had Twins blankets and wore Twin's sweatshirts, jackets or sweaters proudly. Other interests she enjoyed participating in included playing Bingo, singing, playing cards, socializing with family and friends and her faith. Pat was a writer and editor for the Nobles County Review out of Adrian, Minnesota, for several years. She had a flare for writing which she shared through the articles she wrote.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; son, Joe; and daughter-in-law, Bev (Wayne). She is survived by her children: Ronald (Mary) Jansen; Wayne Jansen; Joni Loosbrock; Laura (Michel) Lagace; and Tony Jansen; brother, Bill (Carol) Lackore; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as countless nieces and nephews.

Pat passed with her children around her on Thursday, June 8, 2023, in Winona, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Lismore, MN.  The Reverend Monsignor Richard M. Colletti will officiate.  Pat will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
