Pastor David Fischer

Pastor David A. Fischer, age 79, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 30, 2018.

He was born August 30, 1939, in Appleton, WI, to Arthur and Helen Fischer.  On July 5, 1964, David was united in marriage with Marcia J. Heintz.

He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, in June 1965.  At graduation David received a call to Grace Lutheran in Geneva, NE, where he served four years.  During two of those years, he also served at Trinity Lutheran in Grafton, NE.  In August 1969, he was installed as Pastor at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN, where he served faithfully for 40 years.

Early in his ministry he was on the Relief and Evangelism Committees for the Western Wisconsin District of the WELS.  He was the Circuit Pastor for the Winona area circuit, served as 1st and 2nd Vice-President for the Western Wisconsin District, and was also on the Board of Control for Martin Luther Preparatory School in Prairie du Chien, WI.

He enjoyed being the Camp Director at Camp Whitewater for 20 years.

In Lewiston he served on the City Council, Ambulance Commission and the Zoning Committee.

His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, deer hunting, fishing and the Green Bay Packers.

David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marcie. One of their great blessings is their 3 children: John (Shannon Anderson), Philip (Lisa Nachreiner), and Angela (Loren Lindeman).  They also were blessed with 11 grandchildren: Jackson, Savannah, Olivia, and Wyatt (John & Shannon Fischer); Nick, Lexi, Zander, and Zach (Philip & Lisa Fischer); and Madison, India, and Kennedy (Angela & Loren Lindeman).  Survivors also include his brothers, Bob Fischer and John (Betty) Fischer; sister, Mary Allen; and nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen Fischer; brother, Todd (Ginny) Fischer; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Fischer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, from 3:30 to 7:00 pm at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MN, and again on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.

David will be laid to rest in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lewiston.
