Marjorie Erdmann

Marjorie J. Erdmann, age 86, of Dakota, MN, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse.

Mom was born on March 5, 1933, on the family farm in New Hartford Township, Winona County, to Ernest and Agnes (Gile) Papenfuss.  She was united in marriage with her soul mate, Herman T. Erdmann, on June 5, 1954, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2012.  Together they had three sons and a daughter.

Mom farmed with her family growing up, and also in her married life with Herman, until 1982, when they retired from farming.  She then went to work as a cook at St. Teresa’s College in Winona, and later with St. Mary’s College, retiring in her mid 70s.

Mom’s passion in life was her cooking and baking.  She also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, and going to BINGO on Monday nights with Maggie McNally.  She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Marjorie is lovingly survived by her children: Allen (Deb) Erdmann, Bob (Mary) Erdmann, Jim (Marsha) Erdmann, and Julie (Scott) Severson; grandchildren: Jessica Erdmann, Corey Erdmann, Nicholas Erdmann, Robert Erdmann, Jr., Jimmy Erdmann, Jr., Marcie Erdmann, Bryan Severson, and Brad Severson; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister: Elva Kerns; sisters-in-law: Mary Papenfuss, Maxine Erdmann, and Diane Erdmann; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers: Daryl Papenfuss, Robert “Babe” Papenfuss and Arnold “Mike” Papenfuss.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 201 Mankato Avenue in Winona.  Visitation will also be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nodine.  The Reverend Dennis Harbach will officiate.  Burial will be in Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway.

Pallbearers will be Marjorie’s grandsons: Corey Erdmann, Nicholas Erdmann, Robert Erdmann, Jr., Jimmy Erdmann, Jr., Bryan Severson, and Brad Severson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Marjorie’s granddaughters: Jessica Erdmann and Marcie Erdmann.
