Marilyn J. Duellman, age 82, of Winona, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the comfort of her home.
She was born on October 18, 1936, in Winona, to Vernon and Dolores (Knoll) Gallagher. Marilyn was a 1954 graduate of Winona Senior High School, and completed her degree in Education from Winona State University. She was united in marriage with Gerald “Jerry” Duellman on August 2, 1958, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Minnesota City.
Marilyn was a dedicated elementary teacher for 38 years, where she taught in the Winona District for 36 years. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of doing yoga and tai-chi, playing the piano, quilting, and gardening. Marilyn and Jerry enjoyed traveling, and they never missed a chance to Polka.
She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Church, the Mad Hatters, Card Club, and she was active as a volunteer at Winona Health. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.
Marilyn is lovingly survived by her husband, Jerry; children: Cori (Jerry) Wallerich, Craig (Jonelle) Duellman, Curt Duellman, Cathy (Chris) Bockus, Clark Duellman, and Cristi (Paul) Millington; grandchildren: Anita (Arlo) Kroening; Aaron (Amanda) Speltz; Joshua, Jordan, and Madison Duellman; Erica (Jaered) Shelton; Tyler (Holly) Howe; Alix (Ryan) Hoskins; and Savannah Bockus; great-grandchildren: Shaelyn Kroening; Alayna and Blake Speltz; Aidan and Piper Shelton; and Collins Howe; brother: Loren (Kathryn) Gallagher; sister: Sharon (Roland “Bud”) Clark; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Monday, June 3, 2019, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Very Reverend Patrick Arens will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Minnesota City.
It is respectfully requested that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or to Winona Area Hospice.
