Marie Rieber-Schladinske

MARIE ANN RIEBER-SCHLADINSKE

Marie Ann Rieber-Schladinske, age 99, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Sauer Health Care in Winona.

She was born on April 25, 1918, in Cannesberg, PA, to Everett and Marie (Hall) Koopman.  After graduating from High School, Marie attended the School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis, MN, and worked as a beautician in Arcadia, WI, and in Tomah, WI.

Marie was united in marriage with Harold Rieber on October 20, 1938, in Tomah, WI, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1982.  She later married Herbert Schladinske on May 24, 1991, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1994.

She will be remembered as an avid reader, for her love of flowers and gardening, and sitting on her deck to enjoy nature.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Marie is survived by her children: Kathryn (Mike) Orlowske, Harold (Ruth) Rieber, Bruce (Debra) Rieber, Virginia Tils, Valerie (Mike) Lindley, Marilynn (Frank) Richard, Maribeth (Lyle) Pettey, Maureen (Peter) Schumacher, and Stanley (Cheryl) Rieber; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Ellen Beighley; sister-in-law: Rosemary Koopman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; son and daughter-in-law: Gordon and Judy Rieber; grandson: Andy Rieber; sister and brother-in-law: Pauline and John Kamrowski; brother and sister-in-law: Bob and Peggy Koopman; brother: Everett Koopman; and sons-in-law: Cletus Benck and Arthur Tils.

Funeral services are being held privately, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, WI.

Marie’s family would like to thank the staffs of Sauer Health Care and Winona Area Hospice for the wonderful and loving care that she received.
