Marcia J. Schultz

Marcia J. Schultz, age 76, of Winona, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026.

She was born on May 15, 1950, in Winona, to George and Roseann (Schulz) Hassinger, and was a graduate of Cotter High School. Marcia was united in marriage with George R. Schultz on April 16, 1977, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2005.

Prior to her retirement, Marcia was employed for many years in the library at Winona State University.

Marcia was not only a beloved wife, loving mother, and proud grandma, but was also the best friend anyone could have. She will forever be remembered for her warmth, kindness, optimism, and contagious sense of humor. You could always count on Marcia for a smile and a laugh, and she lived a life marked by selflessness and unwavering generosity, always putting others before herself and giving without hesitation (like offering her kids all the leftovers when she dined out).

Marcia will be remembered for her enjoyment of reading, cooking for her family, watching Hallmark movies, trying new restaurants, listening to Bon Jovi, and gathering with friends and family. She especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who she cherished more than anything. By her very nature, Marcia had a positive impact on everyone who had the honor and pleasure of having her as part of their lives, especially family and close friends who knew her best, and memories of her will forever be cherished. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her the most.

Marcia is lovingly survived by her children: Becky (Trampus) Merchlewitz and Mark Schultz; grandchildren: Trinity and Kita Merchlewitz; brother, Anthony (Sue) Hassinger; sister-in-law, Laverne Schultz; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Tom.

A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11 AM until 2 PM.
