Lorraine Edith Poffenberger joined her Lord on October 30, 2020.
Lorraine was born on July 2, 1931, in Albert Lea, MN, to Albert and Edith (Nielsen) Boettner. She graduated from Kasson, MN, high school in 1948 and attended vocational school in Winona, MN. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years.
She married Darrel Poffenberger on April 22, 1952, in Kasson, MN, and spent the next 20 years as a Navy Wife making a home for her family on Naval Bases in Puerto Rico, Italy, Iceland, and several bases in the United States.
In 1970, Darrel retired from the Navy, and they moved to Kasson, MN, and assumed the role of civilians. She spent 20 years working as a chiropractic assistant in Kasson and Winona. In 1977 they moved to Winona where Darrel was employed by the State of Minnesota until 1990. After his retirement they traveled to Europe and Asia. They joined Faith Lutheran Church in Winona in 1978. She loved her church and served on many committees over the years.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband, Darrel Poffenberger, Winona; daughter, Wendy Poffenberger, FL; son, Bryan Poffenberger, CA; grandson, Jonathan Turner, FL; 3 sisters, Maureen (Larry) Edwards, Linda Boettner, Bridgeport, AL, and Karen (Ken) Peterson, Saginaw, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; 1 son-in-law and 1 daughter-in-law.
According to her wishes, funeral services are being held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Winona, or to the donor’s choice.
