Lois L. Strange, age 91, of Winona, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living.
She was born on April 25, 1927, in Winona, to Neil and Vida (Kreuzer) McLaughlin, and was a graduate of Winona High School. Lois was united in marriage with Leonard A. Strange on April 22, 1950, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2015.
Lois was employed as an operator and customer service representative with Northwestern Bell for over 23 years. She was an active member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served on the Finance Committee, the Funeral Luncheon Committee, sang in the choir, and was a member of Circle Johanna of the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Lois Club in Winona and volunteered with the Sauer Health Care Auxiliary.
She will be remembered as an avid BINGO and solitaire player, and for her love of traveling, spending winters in Las Vegas, and the trips to Disneyland with her grandchildren. Lois was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma who will be missed by all those who loved her.
Lois is survived by her sons: Jay (Carmela) Strange, Redondo Beach, CA; Larry (Patti Henthorne) Strange, Winona; and Daniel (Kim) Strange, Chippewa Falls, WI; grandchildren: Megan (Ben) Sadowski, Jeffrey Strange, Aaron Strange, Jennifer (Brandon) Schroeder, Anna (Eric) Nicol, Ryan (Alicia) Strange, Lindsey (Joe) Strange Reeves, Rachel (Eric) Ramin, William Strange and Laura Strange; great-grandchildren: Mathew, Charles, Connor, Evey, Lucas, Levi, Abram, Oswin, Liam, Ryla, and Ira; step-grandchildren: Troy, Joshua, Arthur and Daniel; sister: Donna Riggle, Winona; brothers-in-law: Fred Wild, Winona; Donald Strange, White Bear Lake, MN; and Roger (Fran) Mueller, Winona; sisters-in-law: Margie Schneider, Winona; Julie Levinski, Winona; and Anna Houdek, Winona; as well as other relatives and friends including Coral (Sean) Logan and their children: McKinley, Maleigha, and Makiah.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Elaine Wild; brother and sister-in-law: Charles and Lorraine McLaughlin; and a brother-in-law: Virgil Riggle.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a devotional service at 6:45 PM on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held from 11:30 AM until the funeral service at 12:30 PM on Monday, May 14, 2018, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate. Lois will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Lois’ grandsons, and the honorary pallbearers will be Lois’ granddaughters.
Memorials are suggested to Winona Health Hospice, or to Sauer Health Care.
