Leona Elizabeth Multhaup, age 87, of Winona, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Sauer Health Care in Winona.
She was born on May 1, 1932, in Winona, to Frank and Mayme (Bath) Meska. Leona married William Multhaup on November 5, 1949, and they shared their happy lives for 67 years, until Bill’s death on March 15, 2017. Leona was a loving and devoted wife to Bill.
Leona and Bill raised their three children, Sue, Jim, and Lois, in Winona, and was the best role model possible as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She had a tremendous love for her family, and her family had a tremendous love for her.
She was employed with Schuler Candy Factory, and later as a housekeeper at St. Anne Extended Healthcare until her retirement. Leona was a member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church.
Leona will be remembered as an excellent homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the holidays, and who always put her family first. She was an honest, loving, and caring person who will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Leona is lovingly survived by her children: Sue (Keith) Tarras, Winona; Jim (Lorraine) Multhaup, Winona; and Lois (Gary) Fegre, Stockton; grandchildren: Traci (fiancé Chris Volavka) Tarras, Anoka, MN; Tammi (Jason) Reed, Winona; Megan (Ryan) Flynn, San Francisco, CA; Trevor Multhaup, Winona; Troy Fegre, Winona; four great - grandchildren: Sheridan and Charles Martin, and Jayden and Colten Reed; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Frank and Mayme; brothers: Dave, Ralph, and Norman; and sisters: Mary and Catherine.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, 626 West Broadway, Winona. The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate. Leona will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
