Kathleen “Kate” Wick, age 80, of Winona, MN, and formerly of Delavan, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at her home in Winona, surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 25, 1940, in Mankato, MN, to Clarence and Helen (Mahowald) Zuehlke. She was united in marriage with David E. Wick on April 26, 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Mankato, MN.
Kate farmed with her husband, Dave, near Delavan for many years, and also worked in the food service program at the Blue Earth Area Schools. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton, MN, and while in Winona, she attended St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.
She will be remembered as someone who never sat still, and always found something to keep herself busy. Kate was an excellent wildlife and landscape artist, who was self-taught by watching Bob Ross on TV, and she also enjoyed woodworking, crocheting, knitting, and baking. She especially cherished the time that she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Kate is lovingly survived by her husband: Dave, Winona; children: Debbie (David) Volkmann, Winona; David (Natalie) Wick, Mankato, MN; and Dennis (Angie) Wick, Delavan, MN; grandchildren: Tony (Jami) Wick, Autumn Wick, Kalene (Calvin) Schleich, and Chris Volkmann; great-grandchildren: Hadi Wick and Zaylen Stromberg; sister-in-law: Judy Pollei; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant grandson, Spenser Wick; and siblings: Barb Enz and Marjorie Holcomb.
Visitation will be held from noon until the funeral service at 1 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton, MN. The Reverend Steve Berkeland will officiate. Kate will be laid to rest in the West Delavan Lutheran Cemetery. Those attending will be required to wear a mask and to follow social distancing guidelines.
Pallbearers will be Kate’s grandchildren and a nephew, Todd Enz.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to Winona Health Hospice Services, 175 E. Wabasha St. Winona, MN 55987, for the excellent and loving care that Kate received.
