Kathie M. Peterson

Kathie Mae (Sands) Peterson, age 76, of Winona, passed away on June 26, 2026, at Winona Health, surrounded by her family.

Kathie was born on April 6, 1950, in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of Earl and Rita Sands. On August 25, 1984, she was united in marriage to David Peterson, and their wedding was held on the Winona Princess Paddleboat.

Kathie was employed for 36 years with Fiberite in Winona. Her love for animals knew no bounds, and the birds never went hungry.

Kathie is lovingly survived by her husband, David; sons: James (Lisa) Teeling of Wasilla, AK, and Phillip (Tammy) of Washington; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters: Sharon Sands, Florida and Coral Jacobson, Washington; brother: Steve, Washington; brothers-in-law: Dean (Vicky) Peterson, Iowa; Darvin (Chris) Peterson, Winona; Glenn (Laurie) Tullius, La Crescent; sisters-in-law: Beverly Harms, Andrea Peterson, Cochrane, WI; and Karen Tullius, East Moline, IL; mother-in-law, Arlene Tullius, Winona; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Rita Sands; brothers-in-law: Dale Peterson, Loyal Tullius, Jr., and Marshall Jacobson; and father-in-law, Loyal Tullius, Sr.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from noon until 2 PM. A private family burial will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Winona Humane Society, or to a charity of choice.
