June Malenke

Winona, Minnesota - June Lorraine Malenke, a long-time resident and beautiful woman, passed away peacefully in her home early Friday morning the 23rd of June.

She was born in Albert Lea, MN on June 10, 1955. She graduated from Emmons High School and worked at TRW for 26 years. June married the love of her life, Bruce Malenke, on August 10, 1974.

June's pride and joy was her family, she always said we had a special bond of love. She loved her home and all of her friends that would come visit her. To everyone who knew her, she was known for her strength, beauty, and her infectious laugh. She enjoyed listening to her husband sing and play the guitar, watching old western movies, and making hilarious jokes. Her love of tie-dye, jewelry, dogs and cats was prominent. Her humor and love lasted till the very end.

June's smile and laugh would light up any room she walked into, and she never had a negative thing to say about anyone or any situation that was put in her way. She had a long and tough fight, but her suffering is now over and she's forever our angel.

She was preceded in death by her father Phillip Stenseth.

June is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children: Heather (Jeffrey) Fini and Travis (Jen) Malenke; her six grandchildren: Ashley (Jason) Khalipa, Jasmine, Cameron, Ellarose, Jax and Charli, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Ava and Kaden. She is further survived by her mother Bernice Mobry; and siblings: Susan (Jack) Donelan, Sharon (Bob) Kelly, Jane Thorson, Brenda Stenseth and Bobby (Sue) Stenseth and many nieces and nephews.

We additionally wish to thank the oncology department at Franciscan Mayo La Crosse, Mayo Rochester, and the hospice team at Winona Health for their excellent care, with a special thanks to Traci Morken. Also, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Schoell and Pastor Gurgel.

The world has lost a beautiful soul, our one and only Junebug. To honor her life, there will be a visitation from 12 pm until 1 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017, with a service at 1 pm, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 766 West Wabasha Street in Winona.  The Reverend Karl Gurgel will officiate.  Following the service, there will be a reception held in the church fellowship hall.
