JOANNE L. THIESSE

Joanne L. Thiesse, born August 30, 1932, formerly of Winona, passed away September 8, 2017, at Kingsley Shores Senior Living in Lakeville, MN.

Joanne was a long time member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she devoted her time serving with Ladies Aid, putting the Messenger newsletter together, the finance committee, delivering church bulletins to shut-ins, along with many other jobs.  Her biggest joy was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and just recently two new great-grandchildren.  Joanne also enjoyed reading, knitting dish rags, sitting on the front porch and making crafts.  Other activities included traveling and attending estate and garage sales.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald C. Thiesse; 2 children: Lori (Dave) Decklever, Lakeville, MN, and Amy (Doug) Evenson, Holmen, WI; 6 grandchildren: Sarah (Chris) Richardson, Greenwood, IL; Kari Decklever, Woodbury, MN; Amanda (James) Nelson, Urbana, IL; Hannah Decklever, Apple Valley, MN; Cole Evenson, Akron, OH; and Joey Decklever, Lakeville, MN; along with 2 great-grandchildren: Quinn Marie, and Carter James.

A visitation will be held at Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 201 Mankato Avenue, Winona, MN, on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 11 AM until the funeral service at 2 PM.  Joanne will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice, 7200 Hudson Blvd., Suite 100, Oakland, MN 55128, and the American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
