Jason P. Will, age 55, of Winona, passed on to his eternal life on Thursday, April 3, 2025, following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born on April 16, 1969, in Winona, to Richard and Jacquelyn “Jaci” (Pelofske) Will. Jason attended Winona Senior High School, graduating in 1987, and he then attended Winona State University and UW-Stout.
At the age of 6, Jason was diagnosed with Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease, which brought many health issues throughout his entire life. People still ask about how the little boy with the brace is doing. Throughout some good years, he played hockey and also drums in the Winona Senior High School band.
Jason was a kind, friendly, sensitive, and witty man who always sent cards and notes that were taped shut well. He was a shopper, always buying gifts and treasures for his relatives and friends. He was an orange person – almost everything had to be orange. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, spray-painting things in his parents’ yard, and daily trips to Prairie Island with his dog, Marley. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him the most.
Jason is lovingly survived by his parents, Dick and Jaci, Winona; sister, Jodi, Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Jeffrey (Cheryl), Winona; niece, Cassie (Ben), Winona; nephew, Brodie (Kylie), Lewiston; great-nephews: Aiden and Henry; great-niece, Isabella; as well as other relatives, cousins, and friends.
His best buddy Marley is with him again.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona. Father Russell Scepaniak will officiate.
There will not be any visitation held prior to the Mass. Following the Mass, Jason’s family will greet relatives and friends during a reception in the Commons of St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneiska.
Pallbearers will be members of the Goodview-Winona Hockey Team.
Memorials may be directed to the Winona Area Humane Society, or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
