JAMES F. WIECZOREK

James F. Wieczorek, age 86, of Winona, and formerly of Bluff Siding, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.

He was born on March 28, 1929, in Fountain City, WI, to Stanley and Margaret (Dureske) Wieczorek.  He was united in marriage with Rosemary Schneider on April 4, 1951, at St. Mary’s Church in Winona.

Jim honorably served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a life member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.  He was also a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.

He was employed for many years with Kelley’s Furniture in Winona as a delivery driver, and later as the manager of the warehouse.  Jim will be remembered as an avid Packers fan, and for his love of Polka music.

Jim is lovingly survived by his wife, Rosemary, Winona; children: Susan (David) Drazkowski, Fountain City, WI; Richard (Debbie) Wieczorek, Winona; Karen (Greg) Flatten, St. Louis Park, MN; grandchildren: Carrie (Mike) Jones; Becky Drazkowski; Tyler Wieczorek; Christopher (Laura) Flatten; Katie Flatten; great-grandchildren: Taylor and Savannah Jones; and Sydney Flatten; sister: Elaine Wieczorek; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne; brother and sister-in-law: Clarence (Bette) Wieczorek; and an infant brother, Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka.  The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.

Following the Mass, the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors outside of the Basilica.

Jim will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be considered in lieu of flowers.
