James J. Seracki, age 89, a “Dodge Legend,” of Fountain City, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Winona Health Hospital.
He was born on July 12, 1934, on the family farm in Buffalo Township, WI, to Leonard and Irene (Mrozek) Seracki, where he lived his entire life. Jim honorably served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of VFW Post 10671 in Arcadia, WI.
Jim was an over-the-road trucker for Kujak Trucking in Winona and Dodge Oil Company, and he also farmed on the family homestead. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek and of the Dodge Sportsmen Club.
He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting & fishing. Jim enjoyed hosting the deer hunters and campers each year on his property along the Trempealeau River. He also enjoyed cheering for the Packers, gardening, making sausage and wine, tinkering, and he was proud of the several antique tractors he restored. Jim was kind and generous sharing the fruits of his labor with all. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and the visits with friends in his garage.
Jim is lovingly survived by his nieces and nephews: Dennis Siebenaler, Douglas (Nancy) Siebenaler, Sheryl (Ken) Wiegers, Teresa (late Charles) Consolvo, Jane (John) Norgaard, Joan (Steve) Buchholz, and David (Merrick) Siebenaler; a special and loving friend, Judy Sacia, and her 4 children; 17 grand nieces and nephews; 23 great-grand nieces and nephews; an aunt, Fern Jick; as well as numerous cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister and brother-in-law: Rita and Richard Siebenaler.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, WI, on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Father Kyle Laylan will officiate. Jim will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.
The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Team Vogel, PO Box 30063, Winona, MN 55987, or to a charity of choice.
The family would like to express a great appreciation for the care given to him by Winona Health ICU and Gundersen Health System of La Crosse.
