James Mccormick

James E. “Jim” McCormick, age 56, of Minnesota City, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

He was born on December 2, 1961, in Winona, to Donald and Marlene (Hoch) McCormick, and was a graduate of Winona Senior High School.  Jim was employed with Lakeside Foods, JCPenney, and Mill’s Fleet Farm.  He truly enjoyed working at Fleet Farm and was sad when he had to quit working there due to his health.  He always talked about Fleet Farm and the wonderful co-workers there.  He missed that.

He was an avid NASCAR, NFL, specifically Jeff Gordon and the Minnesota Vikings, and he was also an Elvis fan.  He enjoyed watching WWE, hunting, and anything camouflage.  He was excited going to his first monster truck show with his sister and nephew, and he loved going out to eat with family.  In the early days, Jim and his dad had old trucks together and enjoyed working on them.  Jim also enjoyed working alongside his dad fixing and doing carpentry work.

Jim was a great guy.  He loved to socialize and would do anything for anyone.  He had a great passion for car shows.  He enjoyed cruising around town in his van with flames, the "Friendly Dragon".  He spent many hours waxing his van and getting it show ready.  You would frequently see him at BINGO or McDonald's socializing.

Jim is lovingly survived by his sisters: Cheryl McCormick, Wabasha, MN; and Karen McCormick, Winona; niece:  Alivia Douglas, Winona; nephews: Zakary Douglas, Winona, and Rylee Douglas, Winona; aunt: Nancy Bauer, Winona; cousins Dave, Mike, and Debra; his cat, Katie, and his bird, Tarzan; special friends who helped Jim during the past few years: Scott Eddy, Jim McDonald, and Kurt Diekrager; as well as other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Although Jim never married and did not have any children of his own, he loved his two nephews and niece, and their dog Bella, with all his heart.

Jim will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.  We love you Jimbo. We know you're "living again" free of pain and with mom and dad.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM until the funeral service at 1 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.

Jim will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.

It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the family.
