Jackie “Jack” Boettcher, age 86, of Winona, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at Benedictine – St. Anne in Winona.
He was born on April 23, 1938, to Walter and Lorena (Schmitt) Boettcher in Cream, WI. He married Ruby Mae Hurlburt on December 26, 1959, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cochrane, WI, just prior to leaving for the Army. They had 2 children shortly after that and continued to reside in Winona. Jack worked as parts manager at Nystroms for 20+ years, then at Chrysler until his retirement. He continued to work his boat motor repair business that he started in his garage in 1965, until later after his retirement.
Jack was an active member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church and served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Gold Wing Riders Association as he and his wife, participated in many rides and rallies on their Honda Aspencade motorcycle. They also traveled 6 – 8 weeks every fall in their van, visiting many parts of the US.
They moved into Sugar Loaf Assisted Living in the fall of 2022 where they flourished in their new environment meeting many new friends and participating in many games, outings, and activities.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorena Boettcher; his 3 brothers: Lymon, Levi, and Larry Boettcher; as well as his son, Tony Boettcher, and son-in-law, Jim Siefert.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruby of almost 65 years; daughter, LuAnn Siefert; 2 granddaughters: Jennifer (Hunter) Johnsgaard, Sarah Pruka, their 5 boys: Preston and Eli Jonsgaard, and Wyatt, Noah, and Owen Pruka; grandson, Colin Boettcher; sister, Janice (Robert) Horne of Monassas, VA, and their 3 children, Cindy, Debbie, and David; sister-in-law, Peggy McDeid and her children; as well as other relatives and friends.
Special thanks go out to Sugar Loaf Assisted Living for the wonderful care and great lifestyle they provided, as well as to St. Anne and Winona Area Hospice for the end-of-life care.
Visitation will be held from 1 PM until the funeral service at 2 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona. Pastor Wade Turner will officiate. Jack will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors.
