Irene Krackow

Irene E. Krackow, age 86, of Winona, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN.

She was born on August 22, 1931, in Winona, to Fred and Elsie (Ronnenberg) Weisbrod, and graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1949.  Irene was united in marriage with Kermit Krackow on July 5, 1952, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1994.

Irene was employed as a clerk with the Dubuque County Supervisors from 1960 to 1974, and later worked as an office assistant at the John Deere Dubuque Works until her retirement in 1991.

Irene was a member of St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served on the Finance and Stewardship Committees, as well as Circle Johanna of the Women’s Guild.  She was also active with the Winona Friendship Center, the Wellness Center, and the Winona Area Widowed Persons.

She will be remembered as an avid bowler, who was a member of the Iowa and WIBC 600 Clubs.  Irene enjoyed boating, traveling, camping, exercising, and eating out and socializing with her family and friends.

Irene is survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: Harold and Robert Weisbrod.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The Reverend Richard A. Moore will officiate.

Irene will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Vernon Brand, Paul Langowski, Crystal Merchlewitz, Deb Weisbrod, Forrest Zittel, and Foster Zittel.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Marlin Fritz, Milton Ronnenberg, and Ronald Buermann.
