Ida Pearl Brand, age 82, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Sauer Health Care in Winona.
She was born on July 9, 1943, in Hayward, WI, to Vernon and Rosetta (Hudson) Lewis. At an early age, she moved to Lewiston, MN, where she lived with honorary families through high school. Ida was united in marriage with Jim Brand on November 9, 1963, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2010.
Ida was employed with the Winona Clinic for 24 years before enjoying a long retirement, and she was a member of St. Martin’s Ev. Lutheran Church, the Eagle’s Club, and the American Legion.
She will be remembered for her love of knitting, reading, playing on her computer, going for local rides, and she was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Ida especially looked forward to her many adventures with her companion of 13 years, Dave Keen, who brought immense happiness to her life. Together, they enjoyed traveling cross-country, and weekly gatherings with special local friends.
Ida is lovingly survived by her children: Jim (Ellen) Brand and Jolynn Brand; her companion, Dave Keen; grandchildren: Jameson Brand and Kelsie (Justin) Oldenburg and a much-anticipated great-granddaughter on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her extended Lewis and Brand families. In addition to immediate family, Ida leaves behind many life long friends that became family, and her adored cat, Feebe.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jim, parents, 2 brothers, and several in-laws.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the funeral service at 1 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona. Following the service, a luncheon and reception will be held at the Winona American Legion Club.
Ida will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Our family is grateful for the loving care and support shown by close neighbors, family, and friends. Their kindness offered great comfort and is a testament to the true meaning of community.
