Howard C. Gaedy

Howard Carl Gaedy, age 74, of Ridgeway, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Benedictine-St. Anne in Winona with family.

Howard was born on July 10, 1949, to Ewald and Adelia (Jeske) Gaedy in Winona. Howard attended Ridgeway Grade School and graduated from Winona Senior High in 1966. He joined the National Guard to serve his country for a short time. He married Linda Smith, but they were later divorced. Howard farmed on the family farm with his brother Willard. He later left the farm and worked full-time for Peerless Chain Company in Winona until his retirement.

He is survived by his three children: Angela (Kelly) Burrows, Jeffery Gaedy and Julie (Tim) Barrett; grandsons: Kody and Kolton Burrows; siblings: Elroy (Barb) Gaedy and Elverna (Donald) Matthees; sister-in-law: Ruth Gaedy; brother-in-law: Steve Flad; nieces and nephews: Steve (Kathie) Gaedy, Bryan (Beth) Gaedy, Merle (Heidi) Gaedy, Susan (Ray) Burns, Jenifer (Brett) Coleman, Paul Matthees, Margaret (Mike) Raleigh, Ben Gaedy, Amanda (Kris) Wenzel, Rebecca (Chris) Maki and Robert Flad.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Willard; and sister, Mary Flad.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM, on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. Pastor Jason Threlkeld will officiate. Burial will be at Bush Cemetery in Ridgeway. Following the burial, a lunch will be served at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be: Kelly Burrows, Tim Barrett, Jeff Gaedy, Steve Gaedy, Mike Raleigh, Paul Matthees and Kris Wenzel. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard’s daughters and grandsons.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to St. Anne’s for their wonderful care and consideration of Howard. They also appreciate the care he received from Hospice. 

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway.
