Henry Haines

Henry E. Haines, age 90, of Winona, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Winona Health.

He was born on April 13, 1927, in Arcadia, WI, one of the 14 children of Michael and Anna (Suchla) Haines.  He was united in marriage with Mary Ann Pellowski on June 2, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek, WI.

Henry was employed with National Can, which later became Fusion Coatings, as a foreman for over 37 years.  In 1957, he purchased the Pellowski family farm in Dodge, WI, which he farmed with his son and grandson until 2008, and he was proud that they continue operation of the farm today.

He was an active member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, where he served as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, and on the Finance Council.

Henry loved to tinker and work with his hands.  He was great at brainstorming and coming up with solutions to fix almost anything.  He will also be remembered for his love of farming, gardening, and traveling with Mary Ann.  Henry especially treasured the time that he spent with his family and grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

Henry is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann, Winona; sons: Ronald Haines, Pickwick, MN; and Gerald (Judy) Haines, Arcadia, WI; grandchildren: Jeff, Jessica, and Johanna Haines, all of Arcadia; a sister: Theresa Korpal, Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law: Ed Pellowski, Dodge, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Haines; his parents; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM, with a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, and also from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.  The Very Reverend Mark C. McNea will officiate.  Henry will be laid to rest in a family burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.
