Glen L. Buege, age 89, of Winona, was reunited with his sweetheart, Rosie, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his family by his side.
Glen was born on August 13, 1928, in Winona County, to George and Ella (Golish) Buege. He was united in marriage with Rosemary “Rosie” Goertz on September 23, 1950, at St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, and together they had one son, John, who was born on January 5, 1965. John passed away on May 29, 2013, and Rosie passed away on November 3, 2015.
He honorably served his country with the United States Army on active duty from 1952 to 1954, and then with the Army Reserves until 1960.
Glen was employed with various construction companies, and later was employed as the head of the maintenance department of Winona State University until his retirement.
He will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona, and the American Legion.
Glen is survived by his granddaughter and “sweetie pie,” Mary Kate Buege; his beloved cat, Cassie; daughter-in-law: Zinabeth (Mike) Bellock; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and son, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Monday, February 19, 2018, at Central Lutheran Church in Winona. Pastor Linda Helberg will officiate.
Glen will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will accord military honors.
Memorials may be directed to Winona Health Hospice or to Central Lutheran Church.
