Gaylord was united in marriage with Jeanne H. Bork on September 8, 1954, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fountain City, WI.
Gaylord was a proud veteran of the US Army, attending leadership training shortly after he was enlisted. He served honorably from 1954 – 1956 and being promoted to the rank of Seargent in only two years. While serving in the Army, Gaylord faithfully wrote a letter to Jeanne every day.
He was a long-time member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Winona, and after its closing, became a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
Gaylord was a dedicated farmer for many years and worked as an accounting manager for US Agra Chemicals and Schultz Distributing Company. He continued working part time jobs after retirement with his wife Jeanne at his side.
He will be remembered for his enjoyment of the outdoors hunting and fishing; playing cards – with a favorite being 500; and he was a dedicated Wisconsin sports enthusiast who was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Gaylord was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him the most.
Gaylord is lovingly survived by his wife, Jeanne; children: Sandy (Bob), David (Lori), and Dennis (Amy); grandchildren: Jennifer (Doug), Samantha (Stephen), Scott (Megan), Danielle, Michael (Mallory), Alex (Cassie), Aaron (Sydney), Brett, and Calvin; great-grandchildren: Henry, Marley, Kaiden, Jaxson, Maya, Grant, Rhys, Mason, Bodie and Elsie; siblings: Gerald Servais and Janice Rumpel; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, 376 E. Sarnia St., Winona, on Friday, March 27, 2026, from noon until the funeral service at 1:30 PM. Deacon James Welch will officiate. Gaylord will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery where the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 of Winona will provide military honors. A luncheon and reception will be held at the funeral home following the service.
The family appreciates your expressions of sympathy, but respectfully declines gifts of flowers, and instead would appreciate memorials being directed to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
Gaylord’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Winona Health Hospital, Emplify Health, Winona Health Hospice, and to Benedictine – St. Anne for the wonderful and loving care that he received.
