FRANCIS JOSEPH ALOYSIUS KLEINSCHMIDT

Francis Joseph Aloysius Kleinschmidt, age 74, of Winona, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI.

Frank was born on October 20, 1942, in Chicago, to Hubert and Adeline (Wicka) Kleinschmidt.  He was united in marriage with Dorothy Finnery on November 17, 1962, at St. Hedwig’s Church in Chicago.

He was employed with the Federal Reserve Bank for 31 years, and in retirement he enjoyed working at Bloedow’s, Kato Liquor, and was also a greeter at Wal-Mart.  He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona.

Frank loved all sports, and was a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs.  For over 41 years, he was an umpire and referee for various sporting events (he always tried to make fair calls), and he was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame as a player on the Chicago DWARFS Team.

He will be remembered for his love of movies, music, dancing, his dogs, and he was an avid BINGO player.  His family was very important to him, and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.  All those who knew and loved Frank will miss his great sense of humor and fun.

Frank is lovingly survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Edward (Cari); Theresa (Bill Timm); and Rocky (Tracy); his beloved grandchildren: Nick, Tessa, Carmen, and Trixie; brothers: Tom (Peggy); Ron (Jean); and Don; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his best friend and brother, Bob.

Visitation will be held at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 9:30 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM.  Deacon Justin Green will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be considered to the Winona Humane Society.

Frank’s family would like to say thank you to his many friends from Dodge, WI, who came to see Frank, especially during his last days.
