Fern J. Ledebuhr, age 95, of Wilson, MN, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
She was born on August 18, 1930, in Wilson, to Adolph and Edna (Neitzke) Brand, and graduated from Winona High School in 1948. Fern was united in marriage with George Ledebuhr on June 9, 1951, in Winona, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2007.
She will be remembered as an excellent cook, and for her enjoyment of hauling cattle to Lanesboro, cars and Corvette rides, her cats, her horse “Feathers”, and the quiet times spent on her porch.
Fern worked as an independent home health aide for many years, but her favorite job was being a devoted wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Her boys meant the world to her, and she looked forward to them gathering in her home for the lunches she lovingly prepared for them every day. She was even able to celebrate Robert’s birthday and enjoyed a bowl of ice-cream the day before she passed.
Most of all, Fern cherished the time that she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always looking forward to their visits. Family gatherings held a special place in her heart, with Thanksgiving and Christmas always being memorable holidays.
She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her the most.
Fern is lovingly survived by her children: Kerry (Laurie) Ledebuhr, Robert Ledebuhr, and David Ledebuhr; grandchildren: Amy (Adam) Stockhausen, Pam (Dan) Gordon, Kim (Alex) Ledebuhr, Ashley (Dustin) Ellis, Dareck Volkman and Jaremy Volkman and their families; great-grandchildren: Mason, Pailey, Summer, Kaiper, Clara, Ruthie, Flint, Finley, and Nola; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Daniel; parents, Adolph and Edna; and a sister, LaVonne.
Honoring Fern’s wishes, funeral services will be held privately for her family. She will be laid to rest at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Wilson.
Fern’s family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all those who helped care for her over the last several years, with a special thank you to Misty and the staff of St. Croix Hospice. Misty…we never knew streaked gophers could make such good apple and pumpkin pies. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – the Ledebuhr clan!
